Silverstone race circuit is the venue for a set of free driving skills sessions during October.
The event run by Rightracks is available for young people in South Northamptonshire as part of the Rightracks rural road safety initiative. There are 54 villages in South Northamptonshire that are part of the Rightracks zone which also includes towns such as Towsester and Brackley.
The scheme has been funded by the Department for Transport who awarded Rightracks £1.5 million for the project.
The first of the free driving day is the Rightracks Drive 16. This is targeting 16 year old who will get to experience driving for the first time at Silverstone circuit and this is on Tuesday 27th October.
What the day entails is a driving tuition with an expert in a dual controlled car, advice on how to find a driving instructor, drink drive awareness session, collision investigation presentation and an insurance workshop.
The next of the free driving days for young drivers is called the Rightracks CarKraft Experience and this one is aimed at drivers aged 17 to 24. This session takes place on Sunday 18th October and also takes place at Silverstone race track.
This free driving day entails an On-road driving assessement, skid car driving experience, ABS brakes driving experience and information about drink driving and also the dangers of driving at speed.
